Storytelling has always been a big part of Daniel’s life.  When one grows up in a household of 12 children born in a span of less than 16 years, there are a million stories to tell.  A love of John Wayne westerns inspired by his father, and for Perry Mason mysteries fed by his mother, an upbringing in Sunday School, and his rabid interest in sports helped him develop an appreciation and affinity for a compelling story.  Daniel first started telling his stories in high school, writing for the school newspaper and performing in plays.  An avid passion for sports—especially baseball and his beloved Cubs—had him wanting to chase a sports broadcasting dream.  After a sensing a divine call to ministry during his junior year of high school, Daniel shifted direction.  Now his story telling focused on the great stories and characters of the bible.  As a senior, he won national championship awards for in “Illustrative Storytelling” and for “One Act Play.”
The son of a twice wounded and decorated Korean War Veteran, Daniel was also instilled with a strong sense of patriotism and appreciation for American history, as well as a profound admiration for those who enlist to defend liberty.  Enlisting in the Army himself at 18, he continued his storytelling as a military broadcast journalist and public affairs specialist.    Following his enlistment, he settled in Atlanta where he attended college in preparation for ministry.  As a licensed minister since he was 23, he has continued his story telling every day of his life in teaching and preaching in some capacity for 35 years.  His boyhood passion for sports never waning, his own story includes 30 plus years as a basketball and volleyball official at the high school and collegiate levels.

The greatest part of his story, aside from his faith, is written in the story of his family.  Married to Connie since 1990, together they have raised three amazing sons, all who are carrying on the storytelling legacy.  Two of his sons are songwriters, and his third son shares his passion and desire to be a sports broadcaster.  The acorns do not fall far from the tree.

“Everybody has a story,” he often says to his parishioners.  “Life is a series and compilation of intriguing and compelling stories.”   With the help and encouragement of a lifelong friend, Daniel has decided to take his storytelling into this new arena of authorship.  “Hopefully, folks will connect and enjoy these stories.”  Several stories are in the works—murder mysteries, spy stories, historical fiction, character stories.  The first release—The Abbey Gate—is his first foray into putting his storytelling to print.
